Orlando Out Fest Returns With Four Days of Queer Theater, Film, Comedy and More

Orlando Fringe is bringing back Orlando Out Fest Sept. 10-13, with a lineup of LGBTQIA+ performances, films, comedy, drag, burlesque and cabaret across Orlando.

Orlando Out Fest is returning to Orlando Fringe this September for a four-day celebration of LGBTQIA+ art and entertainment.

Curated by George Wallace, executive director of The Center Orlando, the festival will feature 21 shows and events in partnership with The Center Orlando, The Renaissance Theatre Company and the Starlight Room at Savoy. Programming will be centered around Orlando’s Ivanhoe Village and Mills 50 neighborhoods.

The weekend kicks off with a free opening party on Wednesday, Sept. 9, followed by performances and events Thursday through Sunday.

The lineup offers plenty of variety, from comedy and drag to live music, film and personal storytelling. Highlights include Beer With a Queer, Erika MacDonald: Tea Time, Janine Klein: Gay Bar Star, Hot Mess: A Comedy Show for Clowns and Q the Legends, featuring vocalist Tymisha Harris performing queer anthems alongside her personal coming-out story.

Film is also a major part of the festival. A Day in the Life of Miss Sammy follows Orlando drag icon Miss Sammy, while Greetings From Queertown: Orlando celebrates the people who helped shape the city’s LGBTQIA+ community. Festivalgoers can also catch Two Eyes, starring Academy Award nominee Lily Gladstone.

For a more interactive night out, Movies Out Loud will put a comedic spin on screenings of Who’s That Girl and Showgirls, hosted by Gidget Galore and Lee Cohen.

Additional performances include Midnight Male Review: In the Buff, Soul Erotic: A Boylesque Showcase, Wild and Gay Animal Kinkdom and Wanzie Presents Deloris Scrud.

Several events will also support local organizations. Midnight Male Review benefits Orlando Fringe and The Center, while the Lee Cohen Comedy Hour is a benefit for The Center Orlando’s A Walk For Change AIDS Walk.

Orlando Out Fest brings together both local and national LGBTQIA+ artists, including performers familiar to Orlando Fringe audiences and artists making their Fringe debuts.

Tickets are available to Club Fringe members beginning Aug. 21 and to the general public Aug. 24 at Orlando Fringe.
