on Sunday, April 2, 2023
Event Description:
Ross Gay will read from Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude, a sustained meditation on that which goes away—loved ones, the seasons, the earth as we know it—that tries to find solace in the processes of the garden and the orchard. That is, this is a book that studies the wisdom of the garden and orchard, those places where all—death, sorrow, loss—is converted into what might, with patience, nourish us.
Registration is not required to attend. Guests that register will receive a copy of the book Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude at the event.
Sponsored in part by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Arts and Culture, the Florida Council on Arts and Culture, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
About the author:
Doctor Ross Gay is the author of four books of poetry: Against Which; Bringing the Shovel Down; Be Holding, winner of the PEN American Literary Jean Stein Award; and Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude, winner of the 2015 National Book Critics Circle Award and the 2016 Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award. His first collection of essays, The Book of Delights, was released in 2019 and was a New York Times bestseller. His new collection of essays, Inciting Joy, will be released by Algonquin in October of 2022.

Event Description:
One of the most popular Disney movies of all time is capturing hearts in a whole new way: as a practically perfect musical! Based on the books by P.L. Travers and the classic Walt Disney film, Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins delighted Broadway audiences for over 2,500 performances and received nominations for nine Olivier and seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Audubon Center for Birds of Prey:
This house represents a typical veranda bungalow built in the 1920s by a builder named Patterson. Most houses of this type have now been demolished or intensively renovated, and few examples of this style of architecture remain. Located on the southeast shore of Lake Sybelia, this two story wood frame house sits on 3 acres in Maitland, Florida.
Maitland is the historic home of Audubon in Florida; the first meeting was held March 2, 1900 in a Dommerich neighborhood home less than two miles away. This first group of Audubon leaders included N.Y. Governor and later U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt, Florida’s Governor, Rollins College’s President, Stetson University’s President, and the editors of the state’s largest newspapers.
