Every Friday and Saturday from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m., the city of Winter Garden will host Halloween Light Shows on City Hall. These graphics include creepy, crawling spiders, spooky witches, and haunted skeletons that dance. Throughout the night, the light show is free to attend and a great seasonal gathering.
Winter Garden residents showed up on Friday, Oct. 16, setting up lawn chairs to watch the show while children played in the projector’s light.
While the images showed on City Hall, the speakers around played holiday and spooky music, such as The Addams Family theme, “Somebody Watching Me” by Rockwell, Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” and even the Stranger Things theme. Sometimes, the graphics would line up with the songs playing, such as singing pumpkins lip-syncing to The Addams Family theme. Of course, viewers were snapping along to it.
The graphics also showcased shots from popular Halloween movies, which was a highlight of the event. During their projection, scenes from the 1935 film Bride of Frankenstein can be seen for some time.
Throughout the night, the projections do not follow a set rotation, but after 15 minutes, the show restarts with a different lighting variation and new songs.
Over the years, the Winter Garden Halloween Light Shows have brought the community together during the fall season. Whether you’re walking past City Hall on the way to dinner or taking an evening stroll, the light show isn’t one to miss.
Light shows in Winter Garden are not only a Halloween event, as the city also holds Christmas shows. Recently, the city was named a Top 25 Finalist for Hallmark’s Merriest Christmas Town Contest.
The light shows will happen each Friday and Saturday until Halloween. Starting on Oct. 16 and 17, the event will continue this weekend, Oct. 23 and 24, and then finally on Oct. 30 and 31.
