Silver Airways, a regional carrier headquartered in Hollywood, Florida, has officially ceased operations as of Wednesday, June 11, 2025. The sudden shutdown comes after a proposed sale of the airline’s assets collapsed during bankruptcy proceedings, leaving travelers stranded and prompting refund efforts.

The airline announced its social media platforms, stating:

“We regret to inform you that we are ceasing operations as of today, June 11, 2025,” the Fort-Lauderdale-based company posted on it social media pages. “In an attempt to restructure in bankruptcy, Silver entered into a transaction to sell its assets to another airline holding company, who unfortunately has determined to not continue Silver’s flight operations.”

Silver Airways operated regional routes throughout Florida, as well as international service to the Bahamas and the Caribbean. The decision to halt all operations comes after the airline filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and sought a buyer to keep flights running.

However, that effort fell through. The company explained the shutdown stemmed from the buyer’s decision to withdraw support for continued operations.

“The move,” the company explained, “came after a potential buyer decided not to fund the airline’s operations during a sale out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.”

In its public announcement, Silver Airways urged passengers to avoid going to the airport.
“Please do not go to the airport,” the airline warned. “All credit card purchases should be refundable through your credit card company or your travel agency.”

Founded in 2011, Silver Airways had been a key player in short-haul regional travel across Florida and nearby international destinations. The airline had recently struggled with financial instability, prompting the bankruptcy filing earlier this year.

Travelers with upcoming flights are encouraged to contact their credit card provider or travel agency for refund options, as the airline’s customer support channels have been deactivated.
