The Notebook Musical is coming to the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts from Tuesday, May 12 through Sunday, May 17.
Based on the best-selling novel by Nicholas Sparks and the film adaptation that became a cultural phenomenon, The Notebook brings the love story of Allie and Noah to the stage through music, storytelling, and choreography.
The role of Noah is portrayed across three stages of life by John Cardoza as Younger Noah, Ryan Vasquez as Middle Noah and Dorian Harewood as Older Noah. Allie is similarly portrayed by Jordan Tyson as Younger Allie, Joy Woods as Middle Allie and Maryann Plunkett as Older Allie.
Additional tour casting includes Aisha Jackson and Ryan Valdez, who appear as Middle Allie and Middle Noah in select promotional materials.
Since debuting on Broadway, The Notebook has earned praise for its emotional depth and moving soundtrack. According to the Dr. Phillips Center, Entertainment Weekly described the production as “full of butterfly-inducing highs and beautiful songs,” while The Chicago Tribune called it “absolutely gorgeous, not to be missed.”
The musical is directed by acclaimed Broadway creatives Michael Greif and Schele Williams. Greif is known for award-winning productions including Dear Evan Hansen, RENT, and Next to Normal, while Williams previously directed productions of The Wiz and Aida.
Music and lyrics were created by multi-platinum singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson, whose emotional and intimate songwriting style helps bring the story to life on stage. The book is written by Bekah Brunstetter, known for her work on NBC’s This Is Us, with choreography by Katie Spelman.
