Downtown Orlando is getting a colorful makeover as the Orlando Mural Festival returns for its third year this September, bringing local, national, and international artists together to create large-scale murals throughout the city.

The free festival kicks off Thursday, September 17, during 3rd Thursday at CityArts, followed by a full-day Orlando Mural Festival Art Party on Saturday, September 19. Throughout the weekend, visitors can watch artists create murals in real time while exploring art, music, vendors, and other activities across Downtown Orlando and Thornton Park.

The festival is a program of the Downtown Arts District and CityArts, presented by the Downtown Development Board.

When Is the Orlando Mural Festival?

The 2026 Orlando Mural Festival begins Thursday, September 17, from 6 to 9 p.m. at CityArts, located at 39 S. Magnolia Ave. in Downtown Orlando.

The opening celebration will take place during the 3rd Thursday and will feature a special exhibition in CityArts’ upstairs Signature Gallery. The exhibition will showcase studio work from muralists who have participated in the festival over the past two years.

Rather than seeing the artists’ work only on massive outdoor walls, visitors will get a chance to see a different side of their creative process through their studio pieces.

Orlando Mural Festival Art Party

The celebration continues Saturday, September 19, from 2 to 10 p.m. with the Orlando Mural Festival Art Party.

The free event will spread throughout Downtown Orlando, including CityArts, the Fordify the Arts Courtyard, and Thornton Park Market on Central Boulevard.

Visitors can expect a mix of live art, entertainment, and activities, including:

  • Live mural painting and artists creating throughout the day
  • Art vendors
  • A sticker exhibition
  • Live music and DJs
  • Food vendors
  • Interactive art experiences
  • A live album release performance from Dizzlephunk featuring CreativAngel, Saxy Billy and Cone Figgins from 8 to 10 p.m.

DJ Krazy Dazie, DJ M9.3 and DJ Hulian will also provide music throughout the event.

Watch Murals Come to Life Around Downtown Orlando

One of the biggest draws of the festival is the opportunity to see muralists working on large-scale pieces in real time.

This year’s festival expands beyond its previous footprint with participation from the Thornton Park District and the City District.

An additional 10 pop-up murals will be displayed during the Art Party and Thornton Park Market.

A Growing Downtown Orlando Arts Event

The Orlando Mural Festival launched in 2024 and has quickly become a major public art event in Downtown Orlando.

Last year’s festival attracted more than 8,000 attendees and featured live music, art vendors, and interactive experiences. Organizers also reported more than 1 million social media impressions from the 2025 festival, along with more than 1.27 million total impressions from press coverage.

Now in its third year, the festival continues to bring public art into everyday spaces throughout Downtown Orlando, giving residents and visitors a chance to experience the city’s creative community outside of traditional galleries and museums.

How to Attend the Orlando Mural Festival

Admission to the Orlando Mural Festival is free, and registration is recommended but not required.

The festival’s main hub is CityArts, 39 S. Magnolia Ave., Orlando.
