Orange County Recovers Program to Aid Homeowners Affected by Hurricane Ian

A new initiative is set to launch next week, aiming to assist homeowners in Orange County who are still grappling with the aftermath of Hurricane Ian. The Orange County Recovers Program (OCRP) is designed to provide financial support to eligible single-family and mobile homeowners who sustained damage from the storm in September 2022.

The OCRP will offer funding to repair, reconstruct, or replace single-family and mobile homes impacted by Hurricane Ian. The program prioritizes low- to moderate-income (LMI) homeowners, as well as protected classes and vulnerable populations, ensuring that those most in need receive assistance. Approximately $35 million from the Community Development Block Grant for Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) has been designated for the program, to help as many affected homeowners as possible.

Homeowners can apply for assistance starting March 5, 2024, and the application window will remain open until August 30, 2024. To be eligible, applicants must have owned and occupied their home as their primary residence when Hurricane Ian struck. However, properties currently undergoing foreclosure or bankruptcy proceedings are not eligible for assistance.

Eligible homeowners can submit their applications online starting March 5. Those who may have difficulty completing the application digitally can schedule an in-person appointment for assistance. To set up an appointment, homeowners can call 321-382-3514.

For more information and to apply, visit the official Orange County website when applications open on March 5, 2024.
