Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida Grants Levi’s Wish for a Florida Gators Experience

Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida is delighted to announce the fulfillment of Levi’s wish, a 13-year-old boy who recently enjoyed an unforgettable weekend with the Florida Gators. Diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Levi’s wish was to experience the thrill of being close to his beloved Florida Gators, and thanks to the generous support of the University of Florida Athletic Department and the Gainesville community, Levi’s dream became a reality.

Levi’s wish granted him exclusive access to some of the Florida Gators’ most iconic athletic facilities, where he toured both the basketball and football facilities. He even had the opportunity to assist with setting up the football locker room, a behind-the-scenes experience few get to enjoy. The day’s activities were capped with a private dinner at Spurrier’s Gridiron Grille, where an unexpected and thrilling surprise awaited: Coach Steve Spurrier himself made a special appearance to meet and greet Levi. This personal touch added to the magic of the evening, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Levi was able to participate in the GatorWalk tradition, a signature pre-game ritual, before enjoying the excitement of the game from the exclusive Champions Club. Levi was treated to a halftime performance by the renowned Tom Petty Experience, making the event even more special. In addition to these experiences, Levi was given a special merchandise bundle from Fanatics, including a Florida Gators basketball jersey signed by the entire team—a cherished keepsake to remember this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

“Levi’s experience is a great example of how Make-A-Wish brings local families closer to the teams and moments that inspire them,” Laurie Armendariz, Vice President of Mission Delivery at Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida said. “Over the past five years, we’ve granted over 100 wishes in the Gainesville area, including unforgettable moments like a wish to meet and swim with Katie Ledecky and a special wish with the University of Florida Gymnastics team. We’re thrilled to continue growing in Gainesville and bring even more joy to children battling critical illnesses in this community.”

Levi’s wish is a testament to the power of community support and the generosity of donors, volunteers, and partners who make such life-changing experiences possible. These impactful wishes allow children like Levi to find hope and joy in the midst of their battles, and to create lasting memories with the teams and individuals who inspire them.

As Make-A-Wish continues to grow in Gainesville, they look forward to fulfilling even more wishes and bringing smiles to local children facing health challenges. Through the collaboration of local partners and the spirit of giving, the organization is helping to make a difference, one wish at a time.
