Little Torch Miami: Inside South Beach’s New Vinyl Cocktail Lounge

Tucked inside the newly reimagined The Shelbourne By Proper, Little Torch offers a quieter take on Miami nightlife. Opened in November 2025, the cocktail bar and vinyl lounge is designed as a refined alternative to the typical South Beach scene. The focus here is on atmosphere, sound, and service.

The 971-square-foot space accommodates just 65 guests, creating a setting that feels private and intentional. The interior blends Art Deco influences with modern tropical elements, resulting in a warm, low-lit environment suited for conversation.

Music also plays a central role in shaping the experience. A custom audiovisual system delivers high-quality vinyl playback, which reinforces the lounge’s identity as both a cocktail destination and a listening room.

This spring, Little Torch expanded its cultural programming with the debut of “The Hand Off,” a quarterly vinyl residency that launched on April 17. The concept was developed by Max Pierre, Director of Nightlife and Culture at the hotel.

The residency will introduce a mentorship-driven format. Each quarter pairs an established DJ with an emerging selector, creating a collaborative series of performances that unfold over several months.

Opening weekend featured Miami-based Pressure Point, followed by Stretch Armstrong. Future participants include Miami Is An Island, Lotusoph, and DJ Obscene. For upcoming lineups, visit HERE.

The program emphasizes vinyl as a discipline, encouraging thoughtful selection and storytelling. Each residency concludes with a finale event and limited-edition merchandise developed in collaboration with guest designers.

To complement the music, a cocktail program led by Kenny Alexander. Known for his work at several notable Miami venues, Alexander oversees both menu development and guest experience.

Cocktails are served tableside from a custom cart, reinforcing a service style centered on interaction and attention to detail. The menu highlights bold, tropical flavors, with an emphasis on rare spirits and layered ingredients.

Signature drinks include the Spicy Guava Cooler, Coconut Manhattan, and the Shelborne Martini, which offers a customizable garnish experience. A selection of wines, beers, and zero-proof options is also available.

Beyond its nightly offerings, Little Torch is designed to host tastings, bartender residencies, and curated pairing events. The space supports a range of programming that aligns with its focus on craft and culture.

Operating Wednesday through Sunday evenings, Little Torch may be a considerable destination for guests seeking a different nightlife experience.
