Central Florida has officially opened its first Florida location of H Mart, the popular Asian supermarket chain. On Thursday, Sept. 25, the highly anticipated grand opening drew crowds ready to explore the store’s diverse selection of international groceries, fresh produce, seafood, and dining options.

The new store, located at 7501 W. Colonial Drive, takes over the former Target Superstore site that sat vacant for more than a decade. On opening morning, lines stretched outside the building as shoppers waited to experience what many describe as more than just a grocery store.

“I came out early just for this,” said Deltona resident Suzi Kroll via ClickOrlando, who compared the massive store to IKEA for its size and variety. “It’s more than a grocery store — it’s an experience.”

H Mart has earned national recognition as a premier Asian grocery retailer, and the Orlando location showcases why. Inside, shoppers will find fresh produce, a wide seafood selection, specialty imports, and aisles of Asian staples. Beyond groceries, the store features a bustling food hall where visitors can sit down and enjoy authentic dishes from different vendors.

“It feels like a destination,” said Orlando local Isabel Cho via ClickOrlando. “You can do your shopping, but you can also sit down for a meal or discover products you don’t find anywhere else.”

The store is open daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., including holidays.

Community impact

Local officials say the arrival of H Mart is not just good for retail but will likely boost the economy. Orange County District 6 Commissioner Michael Scott praised the company for creating jobs, supporting small businesses, and investing in the surrounding neighborhood.

Orlando is already home to several Asian markets such as Mei’s, Lotte, and iFresh. The opening of H Mart raises the profile of the city’s culinary scene and positions the area as a hub for international food culture.

For food lovers across Central Florida, the opening of H Mart represents both a new grocery option and a cultural experience.
