Orlando Ballet recently partnered with Seniors First to host a Gentle BeMoved class, giving Central Florida seniors an opportunity to stay active through guided movement, music and dance.
Held Aug. 5 at the L. Claudia Allen Senior Center, the class is part of an ongoing partnership between the two organizations that encourages older adults to improve their physical well-being while fostering social connection through movement.
The Gentle BeMoved program is designed to make dance accessible to older adults by incorporating guided exercises and music in a welcoming environment. The weekly classes support Seniors First’s mission of helping seniors remain active, healthy and engaged as the nonprofit celebrates 60 years of serving Central Florida.
Research continues to highlight the benefits of dance for healthy aging. According to a study published by the National Institutes of Health, dance can improve strength, balance, flexibility and overall physical health in older adults, making it an effective way to support mobility and wellness.
By partnering with Orlando Ballet, Seniors First is expanding opportunities for local seniors to participate in activities that promote both physical fitness and community engagement.
The class was held at the L. Claudia Allen Senior Center in Orlando and is one of the ongoing programs offered through the partnership between Orlando Ballet and Seniors First.
