Orlando Ballet will join Miles with Purpose and local community organizations at Lake Eola on October 18 for a free event exploring how movement can support mental well-being, emotional awareness and resilience.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. as part of Miles with Purpose’s “Coast-to-Coast Connection” initiative, a 250-mile run across Florida designed to bring resilience-focused programming directly to communities.

Attendees of all ages can participate in interactive experiences and activities focused on movement, connection, and wellness.

Orlando Ballet Brings Emotions in Motion to the Community

During the event, Orlando Ballet will lead a brief interactive session inspired by its Emotions in Motion program. Developed in partnership with the Victim Service Center of Central Florida, the program uses guided movement and creative expression to help adult trauma survivors process emotions and build resilience.

The initiative is part of Orlando Ballet’s broader effort to make wellness-focused arts programming more accessible and highlight the role dance can play in emotional awareness and connection.

“Movement has a unique ability to help people connect with themselves and each other,” said Shane Bland, Orlando Ballet’s head of community enrichment. He added that the organization is proud to work with partners exploring new ways to support mental well-being and strengthen communities.

Community Partners Focus on Mental Well-Being

The Lake Eola gathering will bring together several organizations working across the areas of movement, wellness, and community support. In addition to Orlando Ballet and Miles with Purpose, participating organizations include World Youth Clubs, Victim Service Center of Central Florida, The Peaceful Peacock and Martial Arts Center for Health.

Miles with Purpose promotes movement as a preventive and complementary approach to mental health care. Its programming incorporates movement, breathing, and reflection to support stress management, emotional regulation, and resilience.

The October 18 event is open to the public and free to attend, offering Central Florida residents an opportunity to explore how physical activity and creative expression can contribute to overall well-being.
