The YMCA of Central Florida is inviting older adults and their families to take part in Healthy Seniors Day on Wednesday, October 8, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The free event will be held simultaneously at all 14 YMCA Family Centers across Central Florida, offering programs and resources tailored to adults ages 55 and older.
The YMCA emphasizes that staying active later in life goes beyond physical exercise—it also supports mental health, social connection, and overall quality of life. Through its year-round programs, such as aquatic fitness, chair yoga, and social clubs, the Y helps older adults maintain independence, combat loneliness, and remain engaged in their communities.
Healthy Seniors Day will feature a mix of interactive activities and resources, including:
Age-friendly fitness demonstrations led by YMCA instructors
Health and wellness sessions presented by local professionals
Community resource partners offering guidance for healthy, independent living
Family-oriented activities designed to encourage connections across generations
Organizers say the event offers older adults an opportunity to explore new ways to stay active, connect with others, and access local resources that support long-term wellness.
