Port Canaveral welcomed the world’s largest cruise ship, Royal Caribbean’s Star of the Seas, for its first-ever arrival on Saturday morning, Aug. 9. The 248,663-ton Icon Class vessel sailed past Jetty Park with a water cannon tugboat escort before docking at the port’s recently renovated Cruise Terminal 1.

The ship, which spans 20 decks and can carry more than 5,000 passengers, offers a variety of experiences, including 40 bars, restaurants, and lounges. Family-friendly attractions include the largest water park at sea, an ice-skating rink, laser tag, an escape room, and dedicated play areas for children of all ages. Among its more than 2,800 staterooms are spacious suite options that can accommodate up to nine guests.

Designed with eight distinct neighborhoods, Star of the Seas offers something for every type of traveler — from the serene Aquadome to the lush greenery of Central Park. Before it begins its seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries later this month, the vessel will host special showcase voyages and an official naming ceremony led by legendary music icon Diana Ross.

Cruise enthusiasts and local residents can take part in the “Star-Studded Sailabration” at Jetty Park on Saturday, Aug. 16, coinciding with the ship’s afternoon departure from Port Canaveral.
