Orlando International Film Festival Returns with Global Films, Insightful Panels, and Special Events

The Orlando International Film Festival (OIFF) is set to return June 19–22, 2025, bringing four days of film screenings, educational panels, and cultural celebrations to the University of Central Florida’s Downtown Orlando campus.

This year’s festival will feature 240 films from 45 countries, offering a diverse and dynamic selection of cinematic works from around the world. Thirteen of these entries are award-winning selections, including Beneath the Same Sky, a U.S. Short Documentary Award recipient and two-time Emmy winner. The film was co-produced by University of Central Florida journalism professor Rick Brunson and directed and produced by Christine Kane.

Festival Highlights and Special Events

The 2025 festival officially begins on Juneteenth (June 19), honoring the significance of African American culture and history through dedicated screenings and themed panels. Each day will be packed with activities from early morning until 11 p.m., giving attendees a full schedule of events and film experiences.

Key events include:

  • AI-Animation Films Day & Panel – June 20
    Explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping the future of animation in both screenings and expert-led discussions.

  • Bobby Roth Masterclass – June 21
    Acclaimed director Bobby Roth (known for Lost, Prison Break, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) will host an exclusive masterclass for aspiring and professional filmmakers.

  • The Role of Women in Film Panel – June 21
    A powerful conversation focused on the representation, challenges, and achievements of women in the film industry.

  • Awards Celebration – June 22
    The festival will close with an awards ceremony recognizing outstanding films and talent, followed by a special screening of PBS’s The African Americans: Many Rivers to Cross by Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Jr., in partnership with local public television.

  • Virtual Screenings – June 19–22
    Select films will be available to stream online, expanding access to those who cannot attend in person.
