Cooler Days Ahead: Strong Cold Front to Bring Sweater Weather to Central Florida

Breaking News

Central Florida residents can expect a noticeable shift in weather this week as a strong cold front moves through the region, bringing the coolest temperatures we’ve seen in months.

Mild Start to the Week

The week begins with mild and dry conditions under the influence of a large ridge of high pressure. Monday and Tuesday will feature mostly sunny skies with temperatures climbing slightly above average, reaching the mid to low 80s.

Midweek Weather Shake-Up

Starting late Tuesday night, changes will arrive as a strong fall cold front approaches Central Florida. This front will tap into lingering tropical moisture from what was Tropical Storm Sara, bringing increased rain chances and possibly a few storms.

Expect rain showers to pick up after midnight Tuesday and continue throughout Wednesday. While weather models show slight variations, with the GFS predicting less rain than the European model, current forecasts indicate a 50-60% chance of rain on Wednesday. Some areas could experience heavy downpours, and there’s a slight chance for isolated strong storms.

The cold front will pass through by late Wednesday night, ushering in a dramatic temperature drop.

Thursday Through Saturday: A Chilly Weekend

Once the front clears, Central Florida will experience its coldest air in months. Highs from Thursday to Saturday will stay well below average, ranging from the upper 60s to low 70s. Overnight, the mercury will dip into the 40s and low 50s, delivering a true taste of fall for the region.

Alongside the cooler temperatures, dry air will settle in, keeping rain chances at bay well into the weekend.

Looking Ahead: Thanksgiving Forecast

As we approach Thanksgiving, temperatures will gradually rebound. Highs are expected to return to the low 80s, while rain chances remain minimal at just 10-20%. If you’re planning to host Thanksgiving festivities outdoors, expect mild and comfortable conditions with daytime temperatures in the low 70s.
