The Florida Blue Foundation officially opened applications for its 2026 Mental Well-Being Grant Program. This gives Florida nonprofits that are focused on mental health an opportunity to secure major funding.

The foundation will award approximately $3.2 million in funding through four-year grants aimed at expanding access to mental health care. Individual grants will range from $300,000 to $400,000, with annual funding between $75,000 and $100,000.

Applications are due by Thursday, May 21, at 3 p.m. Eastern Time, and applicants can expect to receive decisions in September.

The funding is specifically targeted toward nonprofit organizations with proven experience in mental well-being, particularly those offering innovative, scalable solutions to address healthcare gaps.

Two primary focus areas will guide the grant cycle:

Expanding access to mental health services

Florida Blue is prioritizing programs that make care more accessible to individuals and families who face barriers to treatment. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, mental health remains a widespread issue nationwide, with about 23% of adults and 16% of youth experiencing mental health challenges yearly. Funded programs are expected to address concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, and social isolation while promoting overall well-being.

Building Florida’s mental health workforce

Another key priority is addressing the state’s shortage of providers. According to the Florida Hospital Association, the state specifically faces a significant gap in care, with roughly 550 residents for every mental health provider. Funding will support training, professional development, and workforce expansion efforts to increase access to qualified care across the state.

The grant program is part of the foundation’s broader mission to improve health outcomes by addressing mental well-being, food security, healthy communities, and health disparities. Established in 2001, the Florida Blue Foundation reports its initiatives impact an average of 10 million Floridians each year through community-based investments.

Organizations interested in applying can find more information and access the application through the website.
