“Be proactive, not reactive” is one of Dr. Deepak Raja’s favorite phrases because it perfectly describes the philosophy in which he runs his practice, Orlando Eye Institute. With his patients’ needs top of mind, he will treat underlying issues that could arise prior to any scheduled treatments to ensure their best visual outcome and comfort.

After earning his medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Dr. Raja completed an internship at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, an ophthalmology residency at Vanderbilt Eye Institute in Nashville, and a cornea and anterior segment fellowship at the University of Minnesota.

He performs cataract, glaucoma and pterygium surgeries; corneal transplants; refractive surgery; and the removal of superficial cancers. Dr. Raja proudly offers the latest in laser cataract surgery as well.

Besides being board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, he is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Cornea Society. He is also the current Department Chairman of Ophthalmology for Orlando Health.

In his spare time, Dr. Raja enjoys public speaking, comedy, writing, woodworking, running, biking, yoga and being a dad. He is a passionate basketball fan and enjoys cheering on the Orlando Magic and Duke Blue Devils.
