As part of its 10th anniversary celebration, the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts has unveiled a new installation that pays tribute to its decade of impact. The History Walk is a vibrant and engaging visual display showcasing the people, performances and progress that have defined the center since it opened its doors on November 6, 2014.
Positioned alongside the Grand Staircase, spanning from tier two to tier four, the History Walk offers a guided timeline through the arts center’s most memorable moments—from groundbreaking ceremonies and community milestones to cultural achievements and educational initiatives.
“Ten years ago, we promised to be an inspiring place where people love to be,” Kathy Ramsberger, president & CEO of Dr. Phillips Center said in a release. “Walking through this exhibit, seeing families at their first Broadway show, students discovering their passion, artists finding their stage—that’s when you realize this place is more than a theater, we built a cultural heartbeat for Central Florida.”
Over the past decade, the Dr. Phillips Center has firmly established itself as a cornerstone of Central Florida’s arts and culture scene. The venue has hosted over 5,000 performances and 2,700 events, welcomed more than five million guests, and contributed upwards of $190 million annually to the local economy. It has also reinvested more than $22.8 million into the community through initiatives in education, accessibility, and arts and wellness.
The History Walk invites visitors to journey through the center’s evolution:
Tier Two features the earliest moments—highlighting the initial vision, planning, and funding that brought the center to life.
Tier Three showcases significant achievements including the debut of Steinmetz Hall, the launch of STROKESTRA®, and the 10th Annual Applause Awards.
Tier Four offers a by-the-numbers look at the center’s wide-reaching impact, underscoring its ongoing commitment to its vision of Arts For Every Life®.
The installation is available for viewing by all ticketed guests now through November 6, 2025.
