Cher and Cher Alike: “The Cher Show” now playing at Dr. Phillips Center

Who can resist a musical about Cher? The forever-young, svelte “Goddess of Pop” has been a part of our lives since she made her first public appearance in 1965 as half of the popular duo Sonny and Cher.

Eventually making her way to the movies, winning the Academy Award® as Best Actress for “Moonstruck,” she’s an icon so difficult to define, “The Cher Show” uses three women to play fill her Jimmy Choo’s: the kid starting out, the glam pop star and the icon.

The Cher Show is the Tony Award®-winning musical, covering 35 smash hits, six decades of stardom, two rock-star husbands, a Grammy®, an Oscar®, an Emmy® and enough Tony Award-winning Bob Mackie gowns to cause a sequin shortage in New York City, all in one unabashedly fabulous new musical that will have audiences dancing in the aisles.

A jukebox musical using Cher’s greatest hits through the ages, it tells the story of Cher’s life and career using songs she performed through the decades. It’s a popular genre, using Rockstar bio-musical like “MJ The Musical” and “Tina: The Tina Turner Musical,” which ran last season at Dr. Phillips.

If you’re in the mood for a tough of glam, glitter and song, you can’t go wrong with “The Cher Show,” playing at Dr. Phillips Center through November 12-17.
