The Alliance for the Arts will welcome visitors to three new exhibitions this August, showcasing contemporary fiber arts, fine crafts, abstract mixed-media works and photography by regional artists.
The exhibition will be on display from Aug. 7 through Sept. 26 at the Fort Myers arts center. A free opening reception is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m., featuring hors d’oeuvres catered by Jayne and Brian Baker. Artist remarks will begin at 6 p.m.
The Main Gallery will feature a collaborative exhibition from Art Quilters United and the South-West Florida Fine Craft Guild, highlighting newly created works across a variety of artistic disciplines.
The exhibition pairs contemporary fiber art with handcrafted works by members of the two organizations. Visitors can expect to see art quilts, collages, fused glass, custom jewelry, stone sculptures, and mixed-media assemblages. The South-West Florida Fine Craft Guild is celebrating more than five decades of supporting local artisans, while Art Quilters United focuses on advancing contemporary quilting and fiber arts.
In the Theatre Gallery, visitors can explore “Selected Works” by artist N.C. Hagood, whose acrylic and mixed-media paintings blend abstraction with personal storytelling.
Born in Ecuador and raised in New York, Hagood creates layered compositions that evolve organically through instinctive marks, paint, and paper. Her work often features dreamlike figures and abstract forms inspired by memory, emotion, and shared human experiences.
The Member Gallery will host “Snap2,” a juried photography exhibition featuring work from Alliance for the Arts members.
The collection includes a range of photographic styles, from images of Southwest Florida wildlife and landscapes to conceptual and artistic photography, highlighting the diversity of the organization’s member artists.
The exhibitions are free to view during regular gallery hours.
The Alliance for the Arts, a nonprofit visual and performing arts center founded in 1975, is located at 10091 McGregor Blvd. in Fort Myers. The campus is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
