Goodwill Industries of Central Florida (GICF) is partnering with WFTV 9 Family Connection to launch a community-wide food drive aimed at helping individuals rebuild their lives after escaping abusive environments. The initiative runs from June 1 through June 22 and invites residents of Orange and Seminole counties to donate nonperishable food items at participating Goodwill retail locations.

The donations collected during the three-week campaign will benefit Annabel’s Closet, a local nonprofit dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic violence. The organization provides essential household items such as furniture and home goods to individuals and families transitioning into safer living conditions.

“We all have our own dreams, but for many people, their goal is to simply feel safe. Every can of food we collect builds a sense of security for these vulnerable members of our community,” Mario Fernandez, COO at Goodwill Industries of Central Florida said.

The food drive underscores the role of community collaboration in meeting basic needs and supporting long-term recovery for those in crisis. Organizers encourage residents to contribute canned goods and other shelf-stable items to help make a meaningful impact in the lives of local families.

To participate, donors can drop off food items at any Goodwill store in Orange and Seminole counties through June 22.
