The deadline for filing your 2024 income taxes is fast approaching. Taxpayers must submit their returns by Tuesday, April 15, to avoid potential penalties and interest on unpaid taxes.

Goodwill Industries is dedicated to easing the stress of tax season for the community through its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. This initiative provides free tax preparation services to individuals and families with a household income of $73,000 or less, as well as those with disabilities, the elderly, and limited English-speaking taxpayers. Goodwill’s IRS-certified volunteers ensure that eligible residents of Central Florida receive accurate tax filing assistance in a supportive and accessible environment. Once the tax filing season begins, taxpayers can schedule an appointment at a convenient time to receive support from trained volunteers.

For over a decade, Goodwill Industries has partnered with the IRS and Heart of Florida United Way to offer this critical service. By providing IRS-certified volunteers, Goodwill helps ensure taxpayers receive their maximum refund while eliminating the burden of tax preparation costs. This program is designed to empower the community, providing financial relief and peace of mind to hardworking individuals and families. There are no hidden fees associated with this service.

One of the VITA sites in Orlando operates by appointment only, but several locations across Central Florida are ready to help.
