If someone invited you to spend a Saturday morning doing a workout class, jumping into an ice bath, listening to a DJ, and meeting dozens of strangers, would you go?
Well in Orlando it seems like a growing number of people would say yes. AltSocial Wellness Club is a wellness-focused event series that’s carving out its own space in Central Florida’s social scene. Instead of centering events around drinking, AltSocial brings people together through fitness classes, recovery experiences, and community activities designed to be approachable, even for those who don’t consider themselves fitness enthusiasts.
At first glance, it might sound like a fitness festival. But attendees say it’s more social than competitive. AltSocial’s motto is displayed on their website: “Whether you are just getting started or have been prioritizing your health for years, wherever you are in your wellness journey, this is a space designed for you.”
Events typically feature a mix of group workouts, cold plunges, saunas, coffee vendors, local businesses, live DJs, and opportunities to meet new people.
The format reflects a broader shift in how many people, particularly younger adults, are choosing to spend their free time. While traditional nightlife remains popular, interest has grown in alcohol-free events that offer a sense of community without the next-day hangover.
That’s where AltSocial seems to have found its audience.
The Orlando-based organization launched less than a year ago and has already hosted events at venues including The Ritz-Carlton, Paradise Cove, Lake Nona Performance Club, and the Kia Center. According to the group’s website, upcoming plans include continued expansion across Central Florida and beyond.
What makes this club even more special is the participants don’t have to complete every workout or brave the cold plunges to fit in. In fact, many attendees simply come to explore the vendor market, enjoy the atmosphere, or meet people with similar interests. The emphasis is less about performance and more about participation.
Recently traveled to Tampa, AltSocial’s next Orlando event is scheduled for Saturday, June 20, at The Acre Orlando. The gathering will mark the organization’s one-year anniversary and is expected to include its signature mix of fitness classes, wellness activations, recovery experiences, and live music. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets are available through AltSocial’s website.
And in a city known for being a little different, perhaps it makes sense that Orlando’s newest social experience starts with a yoga mat, a cup of coffee, and the option to take an ice bath.
