Cruising is about looking a lot more like a theme park vacation at sea.
MSC Cruises revealed plans for a massive open-air theme park aboard its newest ship, the MSC World Asia. It is set to debut in December, when the ship begins sailing Mediterranean itineraries.
What the Theme Park Will Include
Inspired by Asian culture, the outdoor attraction called The Harbour will sit at the heart of the ship’s Family Aventura District, designed as a spot for all-ages entertainment. This won’t be just a splash zone or a few slides; it’s a multi-level open-air adventure park.
Standout features include:
- A rope course (Adventure Trail) suspended above the deck
- The longest dry slide at sea, designed as a major visual centerpiece
- A large playground and interactive family spaces
- Water-based attractions and open areas
The headline feature is the “cliffhanger,” an over-water swing ride that lifts riders out over the ocean. Together, the space will blend theme park energy with oceanfront scenery.
Aside from the theme park, the surrounding district includes a 10,000 square foot kids’ club with age-specific zones and high-tech entertainment venues for immersive shows and competitions. Also, The Clubhouse features bumper cars, roller skating, and interactive games.
“On MSC World Asia, every experience has been designed to surprise, inspire, and spark imagination,” said MSC Cruises Family Entertainment Development Director Matteo Mancini in a press release. “We’ve pushed creativity to new limits, and we’re confident guests will leave genuinely amazed.”
Floridians can easily access MSC cruises with direct departures from PortMiami and Port Canaveral in Orlando.
The launch of this full-scale theme park nods to a new era of cruising where the journey is just as exciting as the destination.
