As financial scams become increasingly sophisticated, Bank of America is expanding an initiative designed to help consumers recognize fraud and protect their finances.

The bank announced plans to host 1,000 additional in-person scam and fraud prevention seminars, known as “Scaminars,” throughout the remainder of 2026. The sessions will bring the program’s total to 2,500 seminars since its launch, reaching tens of thousands of consumers in communities across the country.

The free seminars are open to both Bank of America clients and prospective clients and are designed for people of all ages. Some sessions are also tailored to groups that may be particularly vulnerable to financial scams, including young adults and seniors.

The program focuses on practical information consumers can use to protect themselves, including how to recognize common digital fraud tactics, identify warning signs, spot emerging scams and know what steps to take if they become a victim.

The need for that information continues to grow as scams increasingly move online. According to the Federal Trade Commission, consumers reported $2.1 billion in losses from scams originating on social media in 2025, an eightfold increase from 2020.

Bank of America is bringing the seminars into local communities through its network of more than 3,500 financial centers and approximately 2,500 employees who conduct the sessions. The bank also works with local law enforcement and community organizations, including retirement centers and chambers of commerce, to expand access to fraud-prevention education.

In addition to the seminars, Bank of America’s Security Center provides clients with security features, fraud-prevention information and educational resources through online and mobile banking. The bank says it also uses more than 50 AI-enabled fraud detection models to help identify and prevent fraudulent activity.

Clients can register for participating seminars through their local Bank of America financial center, either in person or by phone. The seminars are free to attend.

For additional scam and financial safety resources, Bank of America’s free Better Money Habits platform also provides educational information designed to help consumers make informed financial decisions and recognize potential threats.
