Orange County Medical Clinic Expands Healthcare Access with Mobile Unit

The Orange County Medical Clinic (OCMC), a division of the Orange County Government, announced Wednesday it is enhancing healthcare accessibility for uninsured residents with the launch of its Community Outreach Awareness Community Health (COACH) mobile medical office.

Bringing Healthcare Directly to the Community

“The COACH mobile medical office is going to open new doors for us,” Jessica Rodriguez, Division Manager of OCMC said in a press release. “It will allow us to reach more members of the community by bringing clinical services to them instead of them having to travel to receive needed care.”

Designed to support OCMC’s “Know Your Numbers” initiative, COACH provides health screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, HbA1C, and BMI. Additionally, it offers information on smoking cessation programs. The mobile unit is equipped with a waiting area, a private screening room, and air conditioning to ensure comfort in various weather conditions.

Flexible Deployment for Maximum Outreach

“COACH will be deployed to various locations for three days at a time,” Brittany Pickren, Manager of OCMC’s Community Outreach Program said. “Each day, our staff can open it up for members of the community without worrying about an intense set-up and take down of the site.”

This initiative is designed to increase awareness of OCMC’s services. As a key partner of the Primary Care Access Network (PCAN), OCMC collaborates with primary health centers, hospitals, community agencies, and social services to provide comprehensive healthcare access. Individuals screened through COACH may be referred to OCMC for continued care if eligible, while those needing specialized treatment can be connected with providers through the Specialty Provider Network.

Enhancing Community Health and Medical Outcomes

“By increasing the number of patients we reach through the COACH mobile medical office, it will allow us to continue to improve the overall health of our community,” Rodriguez said. “This will be key in providing comprehensive care and ensure better medical outcomes for the members of our community.”
