Developing Strong Community Leaders

The Winter Park Chamber of Commerce has a strong tradition when it comes to leadership development programs. This year, Leadership Winter Park reached a very special milestone: its 25th anniversary. Graduates of the program have gathered for a day of service at The Mustard Seed, hosted a 90s-themed reunion, and will celebrate at a special gala on May 15 at The Alfond Inn. Presented by Orlando Health, the evening will feature dinner, drinks, dancing, a silent auction and an inspirational Lifetime Achievement Award presentation.

The program is also accepting applications for its next class through June 26. One of our recent graduates, Mark Freid says, “Leadership Winter Park is really about growth. It’s about individual growth… the person you are after completing this program is different than who you were when you started. It’s about helping others grow by sharing what you learn. And it’s helping Winter Park, my community, grow in the right way. A way that will make me and future generations proud of where we come from.”

The chamber will also host several informative programs in May. The Good Morning Winter Park series features a conversation on pedestrian safety on Friday, May 8 at 7:45 a.m. Amanda Day will share an update on Best Foot Forward, a community-wide coalition working to make our streets safer for walkers and drivers.

In addition, the Winter Park Political Update is scheduled for May 21. The annual event is shaping up to be an informative and interactive discussion. Come hear from local elected leaders at all levels of government on a range of issues that affect our community.
