Most events are free to attend, making the November schedule an opportunity for families and residents to explore the site and try something new. Line dancing lessons are available for $5 per class.

Explore Nature and Local History

Nature lovers can start the month with the Wing It Wednesday bird walk on Nov. 4 at 8:30 a.m. Participants will explore the grounds while learning to identify birds by sight and sound, with opportunities to discover more about the site’s history.

Cyclists can also take part in a 15-mile historic bike ride on Wednesday, Nov. 18. Beginning at 9 a.m. at Green Springs Park, the ride follows the East Central Regional Rail Trail and includes commentary about the area’s history. Participants must bring a bicycle and helmet, and sunscreen and bottled water are recommended. Reservations are required.

Family Activities, Gardening and Wellness Programs

Families with young children can attend story time on Fridays, Nov. 6 and 20, at 9:30 a.m. Held in DeBary Hall’s Kids Corner, the program features stories, songs, and activities geared toward preschoolers, although children of all ages are welcome.

Gardeners can learn about growing roses in Florida during the Give the Gift of Roses workshop on Thursday, Nov. 12, at 11:30 a.m. Participants will explore rose varieties suited to the state’s climate and have the opportunity to plant a rose to take home for the holidays.

The November calendar also includes a health presentation titled Health Matters – The Eyes on Saturday, Nov. 14, at 1 p.m. Led by a registered nurse, the program will focus on eye care and include refreshments.

For those interested in fitness and dancing, line dancing lessons are scheduled for Thursdays, Nov. 5 and 19, at 5:30 p.m. The classes welcome beginners and introduce dances set to music from different genres. Each session costs $5.
