Heart of Florida United Way’s Thanksgiving Project: 1,000 Volunteers Join Forces to Pack 5,000 Meal Kits for Families in Need

As the holidays approach, one tradition is sure to make a lasting impact on families in need across Central Florida. Heart of Florida United Way’s 6th Annual Thanksgiving Project will bring together approximately 1,000 volunteers to assemble and distribute 5,000 meal kits to families in Orange, Seminole, and Osceola counties. These essential kits are designed to help ALICE families (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) alleviate the financial strain of preparing a Thanksgiving meal. With the support of generous sponsors and volunteers, this annual event continues to strengthen the spirit of giving in our community.

A Community-Focused Event

Each year, the Thanksgiving Project grows in both scope and impact. This year, top sponsors including Smart City Telecom, Publix Super Markets, Orlando Health, Fairwinds Credit Union, and Lockheed Martin are helping to make the event a success. The Central Florida Fairgrounds will serve as the Packing Party Host Sponsor, providing a space for volunteers to unite in the mission of helping local families.

The event is open to volunteers of all ages, with a special “Friends & Family” Night on Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., encouraging families to participate together. There will also be an “Alternative Happy Hour” shift on Thursday, Nov. 21, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., for those who want to give back after work or school.
