Pinellas County businesses can safely dispose of unwanted electronics and chemicals through a monthly collection program operated by Pinellas County Solid Waste. The Business Electronics & Chemical Collection Events take place on the second Wednesday of each month from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at a designated location in St. Petersburg. Businesses pay disposal fees based on the materials they bring.

The next scheduled event is Wednesday, October 14, at 2857 110th Avenue N., St. Petersburg, Florida 33716.

Which Businesses Qualify for the Collection Program?

The program serves businesses that meet the requirements for Very Small Quantity Generators (VSQGs) of hazardous waste. To qualify, a business must generate less than 220 pounds of hazardous waste and 2.2 pounds of acute hazardous waste per calendar month. Additional limits apply to the amount of hazardous waste a business can accumulate at one time.

Eligible businesses can use the events to manage waste that may require specialized handling rather than placing it in regular trash or recycling bins.

What Materials Can Businesses Bring?

The program accepts a variety of electronic equipment and chemical waste. Electronics include computers, laptops, tablets, televisions, monitors, printers, office equipment, telephones, and other devices.

Accepted chemical materials include aerosols, batteries, antifreeze, gasoline, oils, paints, corrosive substances, fluorescent lamps, and certain other hazardous or regulated waste.

Disposal fees vary by material and weight. Businesses should review the county’s current list of accepted items and rates before arriving, as some materials may have specific handling or packaging requirements. Prices are subject to change.
