Orlando’s own Ginger Minj, known for her standout appearances on RuPaul’s Drag Race and her role in Hocus Pocus 2, is kicking off a nationwide tour this fall with a theatrical twist on a Halloween classic. The drag icon will debut Hokus Pokus Live at The Plaza Live on Thursday, September 4, before heading across the country for a coast-to-coast run.
Inspired by the beloved 1993 Disney film Hocus Pocus, Hokus Pokus Live offers a fresh, drag-fueled take on the spooky season favorite. Minj not only stars in the production, but also wrote and directed the show, which marks its third iteration. This new version will feature updated musical numbers and a reimagined storyline, incorporating the talents of a star-studded cast of drag royalty.
Joining Minj on the tour are Sapphira Cristál and Jujubee, both RuPaul’s Drag Race veterans, along with drag king Landon Cider, winner of season three of Dragula. Jujubee recently appeared off-Broadway in Drag: The Musical, further cementing her theatrical credentials.
“We are incredibly excited to bring ‘Hokus Pokus Live!’ to audiences everywhere,” Minj shared in the official announcement. “This tour brings together an extraordinary lineup of talent, each a master of their craft.”
Produced by Minj’s own Fruit Wine Productions, the show is a collaboration with AEG Presents—one of the world’s leading live entertainment companies—and Producer Entertainment Group (PEG), which represents an array of top drag and LGBTQ+ talent.
The original Hocus Pocus film starred Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy as a trio of comically sinister witches. Minj’s personal connection to the franchise was solidified when she appeared in Hocus Pocus 2 as a drag version of Midler’s character, making this new stage production a natural next chapter.
Ticketing details for the Orlando kickoff performance have yet to be announced.
