The YMCA of Central Florida is partnering with DaVita, a national leader in kidney care, to provide free health screenings to the community this August. The initiative aims to promote early detection of chronic conditions and support healthier lifestyles across Central Florida.
Screenings will take place at two YMCA Family Centers:
Friday, Aug. 15, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. – J. Douglas Williams Family Center in Seminole County
Monday, Aug. 18, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Wayne Densch Family Center in Orange County
These events are open to the public, with no cost, no insurance requirement, and no appointment needed. Adults 18 and older can receive quick and comprehensive checks for chronic kidney disease (CKD), high blood pressure, diabetes, and other important health indicators. A physician will be available on-site for any follow-up assessments if necessary.
Screenings will include:
Blood pressure, height, weight, and BMI measurements
Urine testing for protein, glucose, and other markers
Blood testing for glucose and creatinine using point-of-care tools
Additional tests such as A1C and lipid panels for at-risk participants
On-site health educators to review and explain results
Translators to assist non-English-speaking participants
The collaboration underscores both organizations’ commitment to increasing access to preventive healthcare in Central Florida communities.
