Central Florida residents will have an opportunity to recycle old electronics responsibly while enjoying discounted admission to the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens during a special January recycling event. From January 2 through January 4, the Zoo is hosting an electronics recycling collection in partnership with Urban E Recycling, encouraging proper disposal of outdated or unused technology while supporting sustainability and conservation efforts.

Electronics recycling helps prevent hazardous materials from entering landfills and promotes the responsible reuse of valuable components. As a thank-you for participating, guests who drop off approved electronic items will receive 25% off up to four Zoo General Admission tickets. The discount is valid only on the same day as the e-waste drop-off, must be redeemed in person, and cannot be combined with other offers.

The recycling collection will take place on-site at the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens, located at 3755 W. Seminole Blvd. in Sanford. Visitors are encouraged to look for clearly marked electronics recycling bins throughout the Zoo during the event dates.

A wide variety of electronics will be accepted, including desktop computers, laptops, servers, networking and telecommunications equipment, LCD monitors and flat-screen televisions, printers, copiers, modems, routers, cell phones, tablets, e-readers, video game consoles, cords, cables, keyboards, audio and video equipment, circuit boards, UPS systems, and select batteries such as lead acid non-spillable and hard-pack lithium-ion batteries.

Certain items cannot be accepted due to safety and handling restrictions. These include CRT monitors and televisions, light bulbs, unsealed batteries, and soft-pack lithium-ion batteries.

Zoo officials note that recycling electronics responsibly helps protect wildlife, reduce environmental impact, and support a more sustainable future. The limited-time event offers a simple way for the community to declutter old technology, support conservation initiatives, and enjoy a Zoo visit at a reduced cost.
