Osceola Magic Secure 109-97 Win Over Grand Rapids Gold

The Osceola Magic (16-5) took home their second win in three nights over the Grand Rapids Gold (7-16) on Monday at Van Andel Arena. The 109-97 win was secured by guard Lester Quinones, who scored a game-high 27 points on 10-of-20  shooting from the field and knocked down five threes.

From the Gold, guard Dane Goodwin led their team with a 24-point, 10-rebound performance. Fellow Gold player, center Moses Brown, also had a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Magic guard Alex Morales brought in 22 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals. Alongside him, center Colin Castleton had a season-high of 20 points and his team-high nine rebounds.

Both teams fought for an early advantage in the first quarter, with five lead changes. Osceola ended the quarter on a 7-0 run over the last three minutes to regain the advantage.

Grand Rapids brought back more stamina in the second quarter and led with a 47-45 score with only four minutes to go in the half. Morales scored five of the Magic’s final 11 points in the frame to bring the game back in their favor, with a 61-51 lead at the break.

From there, the Magic led by double digits for most of the second half, with the Gold making their last effort at the end of the fourth quarter, closing the gap to eight points. Morales scored 10 points in the final quarter to help secure the win.

The Magic will be returning to Osceola Heritage Park for back-to-back games against the Cleveland Charge on Feb. 25 and 26 at 7 p.m. The Magic will host Noche Latina, presented by Pepsi, on Feb. 26.
