The Orlando Fire Department (OFD) will host free hands-only CPR training at Lake Eola Park in recognition of World Heart Day, a global campaign dedicated to raising awareness about heart health.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women across most racial and ethnic groups in the United States. Immediate action in a cardiac arrest emergency can make a lifesaving difference, and bystander CPR is one of the most effective interventions. Research shows that for every minute a person goes without CPR during cardiac arrest, their chance of survival decreases by approximately 10 percent.
To help more Orlando residents feel prepared to act in an emergency, OFD personnel will provide free, hands-only CPR instruction on Monday, September 29, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lake Eola Park Amphitheater, located at 195 North Rosalind Avenue, Orlando, FL 32801.
The event is open to the public at no cost. Participants will learn the proper technique for performing CPR without mouth-to-mouth resuscitation—an approach that is both effective and accessible for bystanders.
The Orlando Fire Department encourages community members of all ages to attend, noting that even a few minutes of training can empower residents to help save lives.
