Spring Break 2025 is set to bring a surge of travelers to Orlando and Central Florida, with Orlando International Airport (MCO) anticipating over 7.4 million passengers during the 44-day travel period. As one of the busiest airports in the nation, MCO has shared strategic advice in a recent news release to help travelers navigate the high-traffic season efficiently.

The Three P’s: Pack, Park, Plane

Kevin J. Thibault, Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, emphasizes the importance of the “Three P’s” for a seamless airport experience:

  • Pack: Travelers are encouraged to pack as lightly as possible to streamline the security process and avoid unnecessary delays.
  • Park: Utilizing MCO’s reservation system ensures a guaranteed parking spot, eliminating last-minute stress.
  • Plane: Allowing ample time to get through security and reach the departure gate is crucial during this busy period.

Additionally, a fourth “P”—Plan—is highly recommended. Checking with airlines for real-time flight updates can help travelers stay informed and adjust accordingly.

Additional Travel Tips for MCO Passengers

Beyond the Three P’s, MCO offers several resources and services designed to enhance the passenger experience:

  • MCO Reserve: Travelers can book a time slot for TSA security checkpoints through the FlyMCO website, helping to reduce wait times.
  • Cell Phone Lots: Instead of circling the airport, visitors picking up passengers can utilize the North or South Cell Phone Lots, which offer Wi-Fi and restroom facilities.
  • Packing Guidance: Unsure about what to pack or which bag to bring? MCO provides a helpful video with essential travel tips.
  • MCO App: The airport’s mobile app acts as a personal travel assistant, offering real-time flight updates, in-terminal navigation, and more.

Peak Travel Days and Expected Crowds

The busiest day of the Spring Break travel season is projected to be Saturday, March 15, when approximately 200,000 travelers will pass through MCO. Unlike the previous year, where an early Easter contributed to higher travel numbers, 2025’s Spring Break ends two weeks before Easter, leading to a slight 0.37% decrease in traffic.

Spring Break 2025 officially runs from February 22 to April 6, with the highest congestion expected on select days.

Practice Patience for a Better Experience

In addition to following the Three P’s, passengers are encouraged to embrace another important pair of P’s—Practice Patience. With millions of travelers passing through MCO, maintaining a calm and prepared mindset can significantly improve the overall experience.
