In the wake of U.S. airstrikes on Iran over the weekend, several Florida lawmakers took to social media to share their reactions to the escalating situation in the Middle East.

On Saturday, former President Donald Trump announced that the United States had carried out successful military strikes targeting three of Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities: Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.

“The strikes were a spectacular military success. Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated,” said Trump. “Iran, the bully of the Middle East, must now make peace. If they do not, future attacks will be far greater and a lot easier.”

The military action quickly drew responses from Florida’s political leaders across the aisle.

Republican U.S. Senator Rick Scott praised the operation, stating, “The United States and the world are a safer place without Iran possessing a nuclear weapon.”

State Representative Anna Eskamani, a Democrat whose parents immigrated from Iran, expressed concern about the lack of transparency surrounding the strike. “The United States is on the cusp of war with Iran, yet the American people have been given no proactive explanation, no evidence, and no clarity about why,” she said.

U.S. Representative Randy Fine, a Republican, voiced strong support for Trump’s decision, saying, “Donald Trump has never let us down.”

In contrast, Democratic Congressman Maxwell Frost questioned the messaging behind the military action, posting, “Bombs 3 nuclear sites and then says, ‘Now is the time for peace.’”

The airstrikes mark a significant escalation in U.S.-Iran tensions and have sparked renewed debate among Florida lawmakers over American foreign policy in the region. As global and domestic responses continue to unfold, public and political scrutiny remains high.
