A well-known dining stop at Orlando International Airport (MCO) is preparing to serve its final meal. Chili’s, famously located near the airport escalator dubbed the “stairway to heaven,” will permanently close at the end of the year, airport officials confirmed.
The restaurant’s last day of operation will be Dec. 31, according to a social media announcement from Orlando International Airport. The Chili’s location has long been a popular stop for travelers passing through Terminals A and B, often drawing attention for its unique placement near the heavily traveled escalator.
“Chili’s has been a longtime favorite for so many travelers who have taken the ‘stairway to heaven.’ Over the years, you’ve shared plenty of queso & memories. On Dec. 31, 2025, @Chilis will permanently close. Visit one last time, raise a glass & toast this wonderful partnership,” the social media post read.
The closure is part of a broader transformation underway at Orlando International Airport. Airport leaders are moving forward with a comprehensive overhaul of dining and retail offerings in Terminals A and B as part of the airport’s long-term Concession Master Plan.
Approved by the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) Board last December, the plan calls for the introduction of more than 40 new dining and retail concepts. In total, over 200,000 square feet of space will be redeveloped to modernize and expand options for travelers.
According to airport officials, phased openings for the new concessions are expected to begin in summer 2026 and continue through late 2028. The updates are designed to enhance the passenger experience while reflecting evolving travel and dining trends.
As the airport prepares for its next chapter, Chili’s marks the end of a familiar fixture for frequent flyers—one that has become closely tied to memories of departures, arrivals, and a final stop before takeoff.
