Best Travel Spots for Summer 2025: Orlando Ranked Third

As summer approaches, many Americans are making travel plans—roughly 82% intend to take a trip, and 42% plan to travel more than once. But with rising costs for airfare, gas, and lodging, the real challenge isn’t just choosing where to go—it’s finding a destination that balances fun with affordability.

To help travelers make budget-conscious decisions, WalletHub recently analyzed 100 of the largest U.S. metro areas to determine the best summer destinations based on value. This comprehensive ranking was built on 41 metrics, including flight costs, local prices, and the variety of attractions and activities, offering a well-rounded picture of both affordability and convenience.

“When picking a summer travel destination, it’s easy to focus just on the types of activities you want to do or certain cities you’ve always wanted to see. However, choosing a destination that’s not only entertaining but also affordable is important when travel, dining and activity costs have surged so much in recent years. It can also allow you to have a longer, more relaxing trip,” Cassandra Happe, WalletHub Analyst
