August marks the return of National Wellness Month, a nationwide initiative focused on promoting self-care, healthy habits, and overall well-being. Launched in 2018 by wellness community Live Love Spa, the movement continues to gain traction with support from top hospitality brands like Hilton, Ritz-Carlton, Equinox, Four Seasons, Hyatt, Montage Resorts, and Life Time.

A Month of Mindful Living

National Wellness Month encourages individuals to reflect on their physical, mental, and emotional health by incorporating simple, intentional practices into their daily routines. Whether it’s drinking more water, taking daily walks, meditating, or simply unplugging for a few moments each day, the goal is to create sustainable habits that support long-term wellness.

Supporters are invited to take the #NationalWellnessMonth Pledge, a personal commitment to prioritize self-care and adopt healthier routines. The initiative is amplified through social media campaigns, wellness product spotlights, expert advice, and community events, making it easy for anyone to participate—regardless of lifestyle or location.

Special Events Highlight the Month

In Central Florida, the Ritz-Carlton Spa Orlando, Grande Lakes is hosting its first-ever Wellness Retreat from August 22–24, offering a comprehensive, three-day experience for guests looking to recharge and reset. The retreat features:

  • Personalized wellness consultations

  • Motivational guest speakers, including NBA veteran Charles “Bo” Outlaw and best-selling author Amanda Thebe

  • Group fitness sessions

  • Spa services and treatments

  • Brand activations from Bathorium, Fountain Life, Essence One, and HX Expeditions

Meanwhile, Live Love Spa has teamed up with Pacer and Myndstream to host a National Wellness Month Walk Challenge, beginning August 1. Participants can track their steps through the Pacer app, hit fun milestones, and stay motivated by engaging in a digital wellness community.

How to Celebrate Wellness Month at Home

Even if you’re not attending a retreat or formal event, there are plenty of ways to embrace National Wellness Month from the comfort of home. Here are a few self-care ideas that support a balanced lifestyle:

  • Establish a morning or evening routine: Set the tone for your day or wind down mindfully.

  • Practice gratitude journaling: Write down three things you’re grateful for each day.

  • Take a break from screens: Dedicate time each day to unplug and recharge.

  • Explore new recipes: Try cooking nutrient-rich meals or experimenting with plant-based dishes.

  • Schedule time for rest: Make sleep and relaxation a non-negotiable part of your wellness plan.

  • Engage in movement: Whether it’s yoga, dancing, or a 20-minute walk, daily physical activity supports both mental and physical health.

  • Try guided meditation or breathwork: Apps like Calm and Insight Timer offer free resources for beginners.

A Lasting Commitment to Health

National Wellness Month is more than just a moment—it’s a movement that invites everyone to take action toward living a healthier, more balanced life. Whether through professional wellness retreats, digital challenges, or small daily practices at home, this August serves as an opportunity to pause, reflect, and reset.
