Orange County Arts & Cultural Affairs invites you to Mass Mixed Media by A.J. Barbel. An opening reception will be held in the Orange County Multicultural Center Art Gallery at on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, 5:00 p.m. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and the program begins at 5:15 p.m. Admission to the reception is free, but advance registration is requested.
Achille “A.J.” Barbel is a multidisciplinary artist and designer with a passion for visual storytelling. Born in St. Thomas, USVI, and raised in Florida and Chicago, A.J. developed a keen eye for detail early on, using art as both a creative outlet and a means of expression. His work examines how culture, media, and identity intersect. Working in both physical and digital mediums, he explores layered narratives.
With an Associate of Fine Arts from Valencia College and a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design and Media Arts from Southern New Hampshire University, he merges traditional illustration with digital craftsmanship. Inspired by artists like Salvador Dalí, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Pablo Picasso, his work often incorporates symbolism—subtle or bold—to provoke thought and emotion.
A.J. believes that art, like life, is open to interpretation, and his mission is to create work that resonates. As writer Cesar Cruz once said, “Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable.”
Barbel shares, “I create work that blends abstraction with Afro-surrealism to explore truth, memory, and cultural identity. Through murals, installations, and animation, I reimagine history and everyday life in ways that spark reflection. My art connects personal storytelling with collective experiences, inviting audiences to see the familiar in new and thought-provoking ways.”

You’re invited to join NextStep Orlando at our 16th Annual Walk-n-Roll-a-Thon happening Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Cranes Roost Park in Altamonte Springs.
NextStep Orlando, a non-profit organization, helps those paralyzed from a spinal cord injury, stroke, brain injury or other neurological disorders. We provide access to activity-based therapies that promote functional recovery and improve the health and quality of life for people living with paralysis.
This heartwarming event is the highlight of our year where we can showcase the hard work of our clients as they “walk” down the Red Carpet. It is truly breathtaking to see! Our clients come from Orlando and surrounding communities, as well as out-of-state and even internationally. Imagine hearing a client’s story of being injured (and told they were never going to walk again) as they are progressing down a Red Carpet in front of hundreds of cheering fans. This is definitely an event you won’t want to miss!!

Welcome to Eggtoberfest – the ultimate ADULT Easter egg hunt!
This unique event is designed for adults who want to relive their childhood memories of hunting for Easter eggs, but with an adult twist. Imagine a fun-filled evening with friends, where you search for hidden eggs filled with eggciting prizes, all while enjoying delicious food and refreshing drinks from our bar and German food truck, The Salty Pretzel!
The Eggtoberfest hunt takes place in our new Portal Immersion Center with hundreds of colorful eggs scattered throughout the area. These eggs are not your typical plastic eggs, but rather specially designed and crafted to be eggtraordinary. Each egg contains a surprise, ranging from gift cards, select beers, Free tickets to an immersive experience, and more.
When the time finally comes to hunt for eggs, you and your team will race to find as many eggs as possible, each egg increasing your chances of winning a prize. But, beware, some eggs may be harder to find than others, so you’ll need to be quick and strategic in your search.
Once the hunt is over, the winners will be announced, and prizes will be awarded. The grand prize winner will receive a special Eggtoberfest trophy, bragging rights, and of course, the best prize of all, a VIP table for 10 at this year’s OKTOBERFEST!
Eggtoberfest is a unique and fun way to celebrate Easter with your adult friends. So, gather your squad, put on your bunny ears, and get ready for an eggciting adventure!
