This April, the Alliance for the Arts is turning its gallery spaces into a vibrant celebration of student creativity. The exhibit will highlight the artistic achievements of young talent from students across Lee County. Through its longstanding partnership with the Lee Arts Educators Association, the organization continues their 34-year tradition of uplifting arts education with a series of dynamic exhibitions open to the public.
At the heart of this month-long showcase is the Future of Art Student Showcase, which brings together hundreds of works from elementary, middle, and high school students. From painting and sculpture to mixed media, the exhibition will offer a compelling look at the imagination and skill of Southwest Florida’s emerging artists.
The Elementary and Middle School Exhibition kicks off April 2–1, accompanied by an opening reception on April 2 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. During this time, visitors can also experience the All Access Art Showcase in the Foulds Theatre Gallery. This powerful exhibit features collaborative works created by students in the South Fort Myers High School All Access Art Program, where general education students and students with special needs create side-by-side. Guided by educators Kim Bathey and Jeanne Dozier, the program fosters inclusivity, teamwork, and creative expression, resulting in artwork that reflects both individuality and shared experience.
Later in the month, the spotlight will shift to high school artists. The Future of Art High School Student Showcase runs April 17–25, with a reception scheduled for April 24 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. This portion of the exhibition highlights the sophistication of work being produced at the high school level, offering a glimpse into the next generation of creative leaders.
Meanwhile, the Member Gallery will host the Digital Lee Student Showcase from April 2–25. Featuring students from Lee County Career & Technology Education (CTE) programs, the exhibition emphasizes digital disciplines like graphic design, animation, publication, and web design. It also provides students with valuable exposure that can open doors for future careers and educational opportunities within the growing creative world.
All exhibitions and receptions are free and open to the public. They invite the community to engage directly with student artists and celebrate their accomplishments. Visitors can explore the galleries Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Alliance’s campus in Fort Myers.
