The American Heart Association (AHA) announced Monday that five Orlando Health hospitals have earned national recognition for their dedication to high-quality stroke care. The awards highlight the hospitals’ adherence to evidence-based treatment protocols designed to enhance patient outcomes and improve community health.

The honored facilities were recognized for their performance in meeting stringent, research-backed guidelines aimed at optimizing stroke diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. These standards are part of the AHA’s Get With The Guidelines®–Stroke initiative, which promotes consistent care practices based on the latest scientific research.

Four Orlando Health hospitals—Dr. P. Phillips Hospital, Orlando Health South Lake Hospital, Orlando Health – Health Central Hospital, and Orlando Health St. Cloud Hospital—each received the Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award. This designation reflects a sustained commitment to best practices in stroke care, including timely intervention, appropriate medication use, patient education, and structured discharge planning.

In addition, Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital earned the Bronze Achievement Award, recognizing its early success in implementing these high standards of care.

The awards underscore Orlando Health’s systemwide approach to stroke management. Stroke care teams across the network not only focus on acute treatment but also prioritize patient education and post-discharge support. This comprehensive strategy is designed to reduce hospital readmissions and empower patients during recovery.

The recognition from the American Heart Association reinforces Orlando Health’s role as a leader in stroke care throughout Central Florida and its ongoing mission to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered healthcare.
