Universal Orlando Resort announced Tuesday its newest ride will be Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, based on the “Fast & Furious” movie franchise.
The high-octane outdoor coaster is set to open in 2027 at the former Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit rollercoaster site that closed in August. Construction at the site has been going on for months, causing fan speculation of a new ride coming to the park.
Universal Orlando said in a news release that Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will ” put guests in the driver’s seat of the high-speed thrills of Universal Pictures’ Fast & Furious universe like never before.” Further, saying riders will experience 360-degree turns to simulate “drifting,” along with a 170-foot vertical “spike” to send riders nearly 17 stories in the air over Universal CityWalk.
“Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will join an award-winning collection of coaster experiences at Universal Orlando Resort and is another exciting example of the incredible growth, momentum and world-class innovation of Universal Destinations & Experiences,” Universal said in a news release.
As one Fast & Furious experience enters Universal Studios Florida, another one leaves. Along with the announcement of the new ride, Universal Orlando also said Fast & Furious- Super Charged will permanently close in 2027.
Joining Orlando, Universal Studios Hollywood also has plans of debuting their own outdoor rollercoaster design of Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift later this year.
