Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is now accepting applications for its Culinary Training Program, a no-cost, 16-week continuing education course that equips adults with the skills needed for entry-level positions in the food service industry.
Launched in 2013, the program has already graduated more than 525 students, many of whom have gone on to build careers in Central Florida’s hospitality sector. Participants gain hands-on kitchen training, life coaching, and job readiness support. Graduates also receive a culinary diploma, chef coat, professional knife set, and ongoing job placement assistance, including one year of follow-up support after completing the program.
The next session runs from September 15 through January 2, 2026. Classes will take place Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, located at 411 Mercy Drive in Orlando.
“This program is a steppingstone to a brighter future,” Derrick Chubbs, President and CEO at Second Harvest said. “By offering continuing education and job readiness support, we’re helping students develop the confidence and skills needed to succeed in the food service industry.”
Program Eligibility
To apply, candidates must meet the following requirements:
Be at least 18 years old
Hold a high school diploma or GED
Be authorized to work in the U.S.
Have experienced financial instability in the past 12 months
Commit to attending all 16 weeks of in-person training
Live in Orange, Osceola, or Seminole counties
