Congressman Maxwell Alejandro Frost (FL-10) announced Thursday that the U.S. State Department has finalized the location for the new Orlando passport office. The office will be established just north of Orlando International Airport at 5520 Gatlin Avenue, Orlando, FL 32812, with substantial completion anticipated by summer 2027.

“For years, Floridians have shared how frustrating and costly it is to travel to Miami for urgent passport services, and since day one, my office has been working to address those concerns. We worked through the gridlock and chaos in Washington to deliver a solution, and today’s announcement of the location for the Orlando passport office puts us one step closer to finally making these services accessible to our community,” Frost said in a press release. “Starting in 2027, this new location will save families the time, stress, and cost of an eight-hour round trip to Miami by bringing this vital service closer to home for folks right here in Orlando but also across the Sunshine State and the Southeast.”

A Long-Awaited Service for Central Florida

Congressman Frost has consistently advocated for a Central Florida passport office since taking office. In 2023, following his request, the Miami passport office began offering weekend appointments to help working families making the long trip south for urgent passport needs. Frost continued to press the State Department for a more permanent solution, ultimately leading to Thursday’s announcement.

In addition, Frost’s office has partnered with the State Department to host “Pop-Up Passport Days” in Orlando, annual events that have allowed hundreds of residents to apply for or renew passports locally.

Part of a National Expansion

The Orlando location was selected in 2024 as one of six new passport agencies across the country. Other cities receiving new offices include Cincinnati, San Antonio, Kansas City (Missouri), Salt Lake City, and Charlotte.

What This Means for Travelers

Once complete, the Orlando passport office will provide urgent passport services much closer to home for millions of Central Floridians and travelers throughout the Southeast. The new facility aims to ease long-standing challenges for residents who previously had to travel to Miami — an eight-hour round trip — for expedited services.

The passport office at 5520 Gatlin Avenue is expected to open in summer 2027, marking a significant expansion of access for families, international travelers, and business professionals alike.
