This holiday season, the Winter Garden Heritage Foundation and Opera Orlando present All is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914 at the historic Garden Theatre on Plant Street in Winter Garden. The timely production will take place on Saturday, Dec. 20, and Sunday, Dec. 21. It offers a unique blend of history, music, and humanity that resonates with the spirit of the season.

Originally developed by the Cantus Vocal Ensemble and Theater Latté Da, and later premiered off-Broadway, the production features vocal arrangements by Erick Lichte and Timothy C. Takach with the dramatic vision of Peter Rothstein. All singing is performed a cappella in English with English dialogue.

This engaging performance runs for about 75 minutes without intermission and has become a popular holiday tradition for audiences. It not only celebrates a historical moment but also carries a message of hope, peace, and understanding, which are all themes that tend to resonate during the Christmas season.

Beyond the performances, Opera Orlando has tied education to All Is Calm to bring the story’s lessons into classrooms. These resources explore the historical context of World War I’s Christmas Truce and the desire for peace, making the production a teaching tool for learners of all ages.
