Circle Moms: Building Community in the Fourth Trimester

The transition into motherhood is often described as life-changing, but it can also feel overwhelming and isolating. In the earliest weeks after birth, many women find themselves navigating physical recovery, emotional shifts, and constant tending to a newborn, often without community support. Circle Moms was created to fill that gap, offering intentional connection during what is referred to as the “fourth trimester,” the first three months postpartum.

Although not yet located in Florida, Circle Moms provides structured, in-person support groups known as Circles in cities across the United States. These gatherings connect mothers who are simultaneously experiencing life with newborns aged 0–3 months, creating safe spaces where they can share real questions, concerns, and tips. Led by trained postpartum doulas specializing in maternal health and supported at times by guest experts, each circle focuses on topics that matter deeply in early motherhood:

  • Feeding and sleep
  • Postpartum healing
  • Pelvic floor and body changes
  • Infant development and milestones
  • Self-care, mental health, and identity transitions

Rather than imposing a single parenting philosophy, Circle Moms encourages moms to explore information and strategies that resonate with their own families while building relationships in the process.

The Roots of Circle Moms

The idea for Circle Moms grew out of personal experience and friendship. Founders Brittany Forman and Susannah Anderson first connected while working together in the health and wellness space. When both mothers realized around the same time in 2018 realized how difficult it was to find a regular, understanding company, especially from women going through a similar experience.

They envisioned a built-in village for new moms, and Circle Moms was born: a place where women could come together intentionally, normalize the ups and downs of early motherhood, and lean on one another through both good and hard times.

Circles are typically small with 8–12 mothers, meeting once a week over 5 to 6 weeks, so participants can build authentic connections. Each session combines guided conversation with shared wisdom and practical tools for thriving in the postpartum period. Moms also stay connected beyond their meetings through an online community where questions and encouragement are available year-round.

By recreating the village in a contemporary way, it reminds new mothers that healing, learning, and growing are easier when done together.
