Hundreds of Central Floridians are preparing to step up – 512 steps, to be exact – for lung health this weekend in downtown Orlando.

The American Lung Association will host its annual Fight For Air Climb Orlando on Saturday, March 7, at the City National Bank Tower. The family-friendly fundraiser challenges participants to scale 25 floors of the downtown high-rise to raise awareness and critical funding for lung health initiatives across the state.

A Community Climb for a Cause

This year’s event is once again presented by Eddie Fisher Wealth Strategies of Raymond James, which has served as presenting sponsor for the past four years.

“We’re happy to work together with the American Lung Association to raise awareness for lung health,” said Eddie James, First Vice President of Investments at Eddie Fisher Wealth Strategies of Raymond James and Board Director of the American Lung Association in Florida. “The Fight For Air Climb Orlando highlights our commitment to building healthier communities and our support for clean air to help people with lung disease who are fighting for every breath.”

Participants, including families, corporate teams and individual climbers ages 10 and up, will begin their ascent at 8 a.m. The event welcomes people of all fitness levels, transforming the stairwell into a powerful show of solidarity for the more than 2.8 million Floridians living with lung disease.

Funds raised from the climb will support programs, education, and advocacy efforts aimed at improving lung health and promoting clean air throughout the state.

“Without the continued support that we receive from local presenting sponsors like Eddie Fisher Wealth Strategies of Raymond James, the events and services that we provide would not be possible,” said Lori Merritt, Vice President of Operations at HCA Florida Osceola Hospital and Vice Chair of the Board of the American Lung Association in Florida. “Events like the Fight For Air Climb help raise funding so that our organization can offer critical services and educational information about lung disease to the community.”

The American Lung Association focuses its work on four strategic priorities: defeating lung cancer, championing clean air for all, improving quality of life for those living with lung disease and their families, and creating a tobacco-free future. The organization holds a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator and is a Platinum-Level GuideStar member.

How to Participate

Registration for the Fight For Air Climb Orlando is $35 and includes a $100 fundraising minimum. Participants are encouraged to form teams, invite friends and family, and turn their climb into a celebration of community and health.

In addition to Eddie Fisher Wealth Strategies of Raymond James, local sponsors include HCA Florida Healthcare, Jill S. Schwartz & Associates, P.A., City National Bank, Irvin & Irvin and Orlando Health.

Whether climbing in honor of a loved one, in support of clean air, or simply for the challenge, participants will take each step with a shared goal: fighting for every breath.
